A SPECIAL COMMUNITY MESSAGE TO ALL SHAREHOLDERS

This an article from a recent Washington Post about  "flushable wipes" Thanks to our shareholder that forwarded to us to share with our community.

From the Washington Post

What can they do to the sewage system?
“Flushable” wipes have been a headache for the wastewater treatment industry for as long as they’ve been advertised. Part of the difficulty is these wipes don’t disintegrate over time like toilet paper does. As they build up, they can clog pipes or pumps throughout the sewer system. According to D.C. Water, they also act as a magnet for fats, oils and grease that ends up coming through the pipes.

“They’re not made of natural material, they don’t degrade in the water,” said Lucas Taden, who works at Stevens Company Plumbing. “That’s what causes the toilet paper to be flushable. It’s basically water-soluble. When it goes into the water, it ends up dissolving over time.”

Once again you will see the orange safety sticks along our walkways. As a reminder, they serve as a guide in the event of snow. They help guide those using the snow blowers along the walkways. Especially during the night. PLEASE do not remove. If you see that one has fallen, please reinsert into the ground. Thank You

  Reminders

The cold weather is here!!! Protect your plumbing. It is best to keep your unit temperature at least 68 degrees during cold spells. It is advisable to keep your kitchen sink cabinet doors open so the room temperature will reach your plumbing. This especially true for the units that have their kitchen sinks up against the exterior walls. If you have a leak, no matter how slight our maintenance department should be called for inspection and to determine a corrective solution. If you should plan on being away for a length of time, be sure to have your thermostat set at 68 degrees with cabinet doors open and you would may want to let maintenance know as well…….. Stay Warm and Stay Safe

                                                                                          Bits & Pieces

  1. All of the new Community Bulletin Boards have been installed in all Laundry Rooms and in the Party Room. A phot of the bulletin board can be found posted under photos Please, Let’s keep the boards neat. A lot of effort and work was put into this project for all shareholders. Thanks to our board member and maintenance department for making this possible.
  2. Please keep our Laundry Room Doors locked. It is not a good practice to prop doors open with chairs, wet floor signs etc. If you do… THEN Please close and make sure the door is locked after you leave.

 Renovations & Alterations

If a shareholder wishes to do any renovation or structural alteration, they will need to file with the management company for review and the board will make the final approval. By not following the rules and submitting for approval will result in the construction being stopped and the contractor being asked to leave. Fines could be given too. Please review all specific guidelines in the Birchwood on The Green Owners Corps. Rules The rules can be found on this site as well

If any shareholder would like to help with planning Community events please raise your hands and contact the Board of Directors βœ‹.
